Volunteering Opportunities for Instructors


Scienspur is an initiative by life science researchers offering free online courses in life sciences to the students in India from government colleges. Independent and post-doctoral researchers from world renowned global academic institutions who are subject experts are volunteering to teach for Scienspur. 
We have successfully conducted the first set of courses in Cell biology and Neurobiology taught by over 15 instructors including active post-doctoral fellows and senior PhD students. Scienspur is planning to expand its course offerings to other life science topics. We are seeking applications from motivated instructors with a career in life science research and interest in teaching to the economically disadvantaged students in India. 


Eligibility: Post-doctoral fellows or Senior PhD students(after 3rd year into the PhD program) 

Time: 3 classes of 60-90 minutes each per semester  

Time zone flexibility: should be flexible to teach during morning/evenings times IST 

Please specify the topics you are interested to teach or we will allocate a topic depending on your profile if you are selected 

We are seeking applications for instructors to teach topics in Cell biology, Neurobiology, Molecular Genetics, Developmental biology and we are also interested in starting courses in Cancer cell biology & Immunology, Data sciences in life sciences

Volunteering Opportunities for Teaching Assistants


Scienspur is an initiative by life science researchers offering free online courses in life sciences to the students in India from government colleges. We have successfully conducted the first set of courses in Cell biology and Neurobiology taught by over 15 instructors including active post-doctoral fellows and senior PhD students. We are seeking applications from motivated undergraduate/master's students enrolled in a life science degree program and has interest in teaching to the economically disadvantaged students in India. 


Eligibility: Master's or PhD students(upto 3rd year into the PhD program)

Time: Should be able to attend the classes and take TA classes as needed during the semester

Time zone flexibility: should be flexible to attend live classes during morning/evenings times IST

  • Are these paid opportunities?

    No. These are unpaid volunteering opportunities. 

  • What is the selection process?

    Your application will be reviewed by our advisory committee and the candidates will be selected upon their recommendation.

  • How are these opportunities beneficial to the volunteering instructors/TAs?

    The volunteering instructors/TAs will get experience in teaching to undergraduate students that can add a skill set to their profile. Additionally, they get mentoring from senior post-doctoral researchers who are subject matter experts and have experience in teaching. Scienspur also provides an active participation certificate as a proof of your involvement. 

  • Are scientists with PhDs working in non-academia eligible to apply?

    Yes.

  • Are there any opportunities other than teaching?

    We are also looking for people who can offer career guidance to build a career in academic/industrial research.
