Position Overview

Scienspur is an educational non-profit organization dedicated to democratizing scientific knowledge and research literacy. By bridging the gap between world-class researchers and ambitious students across underrepresented and developing regions, Scienspur delivers high-impact educational programs, virtual seminars, research workshops, and mentorship initiatives. The Communications Associate plays a vital role in elevating Scienspur's global presence, managing multi-channel digital campaigns, and engaging an international audience of students, researchers, institutions, and supporters. Synthesizing strategy with creative execution, this individual will produce compelling scientific content, manage multimedia assets, drive public relations outreach, support live educational events, and pioneer AI-powered communications workflows.

Core Responsibilities

Develop, schedule, and publish high-quality, engaging content tailored across Scienspur's primary channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook).

Translate complex scientific discoveries, academic papers, and lecture materials into accessible, visually appealing posts, infographics, and carousel narratives.

Write informative, engaging blog posts, newsletter editions, and organizational announcements.

Track social media performance analytics and implement data-informed strategies to grow audience engagement and community outreach.

Edit short-form video content optimized for social platforms and learning management systems (LMS) to showcase key highlights with chapters for student accessibility.

Post-produce long-form recordings from Scienspur classes, webinars, workshops, and panel discussions for YouTube and archival distribution.

Generate subtitle tracks, thumbnails, and graphical overlays adhering strictly to Scienspur's brand guidelines.

Draft press releases and media advisories for upcoming programs and major organizational milestones.

Build and maintain a contact database of students, student organizations, and partner non-profits.

Support digital promotional campaigns for webinars and workshops, assisting in live virtual event management and real-time coverage.

Utilize generative AI tools (such as Gemini and Canva) to streamline draft content generation, graphic creation, video transcript editing, and translation.

Maintain ethical AI guidelines for content creation, ensuring accurate scientific representation and compliance with attribution standards.

Desired Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a STEM/scientific field (or equivalent practical experience).

1–3 years of experience in content creation, social media, or communications.

Solid video editing skills using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar video software.

Graphic design capabilities in Canva, Photoshop, or Illustrator.

Proficiency with Zoom for hosting live virtual events and recorded video workflows is highly desirable.

Strong science communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into accessible narratives for a diverse global audience.

Demonstrated familiarity with modern AI tools (e.g., LLMs, automated transcription software, AI visual tools) and social media management platforms.

Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English with strong attention to detail and consistent tone of voice.

Excellent time management capabilities with the agility to manage multiple deadlines across diverse time zones.
